President Macapagal-Arroyo has signed a law (Republic Act 9850) declaring arnis as the national martial art and sport and mandating that an arnis competitions be the first to be played at the annual national games.
Arnis, also known as eskrima, kali and garrote, and by various other names in the Philippine regions, it is characterized by the use of swinging and twirling movements, accompanied by striking, thrusting and parrying techniques for defense and offense.
It's time for us to learn ESKRIMA!

Forgive me pero unsa man ang national sports nato sauna? Patintero ba to? Anyways, nindot ni nga balita kay makat-on na unya ang mga Pinoy sa martial arts nga atoa. Sikat baya ta ani unya daghan gyod taga gawas nagkat-on ani. pero atong World Kali-Eskrima Arnis Federation (WEKAF) tournament diri sa Cebu (2008), ang taga gawas man tong nangharos.

I think Takraw.. I agree.. mga langyaw jud ang nagharos.. cla pa ang interested kai sa mga pinoy... Doce Pares magpa tournament dba? dha sa Moalboal or Badian man cguro or lahi sad na? |

@Flanx: Thanks, correct! It's takraw. Good enough nailisan sa Arnis. RE: WEKAF, dili ko sure unsa gyod to pero it was an international event. Mura international org.. Not sure on that.
One Canadian expressed his opinion why instead of Pinoys, taga gawas ang nangharos. He told, Filipino are too busy to master the craft, and focus on education while in their country, when they got interested on something they train hard, 27/7. They are serious on it. Economic factors are also very important factor ani nga issue.
Well, the bright side is, we are now recognizing our own craft.
