This is from istorya thread...just want to share it here and help us decide...

I'm quite confused between these two? Help me decide here..

MANNY VILLAR
SENATE PERFORMANCE:
In terms of the number of senate bills passed, Villar seems to have the edge.

TRACK RECORD:
His infomercials are paid out of his pocket so I don't see anything wrong with it unlike what Binay, Bayani, etc are doing..
He had an issue with a road construction project which I'm not sure if he's really guilty or not.

NOYNOY AQUINO
SENATE PERFORMANCE:
For Noynoy, his list may be short but I feel the bills he passed has more effect on me as I work as a private employee..

TRACK RECORD:
I haven't heard anything bad said about this guy so that's a big plus

I don't think Noynoy is taking advantage of his parents' fame. He is running primarily because of the people's clamor.

The word 'advantage' might be not good to hear. In a sense, Noynoy and his loudest drumbeaters capitalize the senator's instant popularity. Who think of Nonoy as good material for president before the death of his mother? Of course it started out of sympathy to the Aquino family, then because Filipino's line of thought that popular one's can get a position easily, the clamor began. Then people around him began to rationalize the sympathy of the people; media hype intensifies. And now, Noynoy is running.

Just my two cents.

i have nothing against villar much as i have personal favors for noynoy ha?....but i think it'll be better if we give noynoy the benefit of the doubt...i mean, it's not his fault that he has such a bloodline to lean on and get all the support and courage from, he deserves it in the first place; but it's just so unfair on his part that people shy away from him with that thought alone...

I understand where most of you here are coming from. But emotions too, are a part of the human reality, and voting in the end is not about cold objectivity, but about being partial and biased in favor of who the voter believes is the best among the candidates. If Cory's, and even Ninoy's death will be a factor in people's voting patterns, it is not necessarily because their hearts are ruling their heads. It may well be because Noynoy's supporters believe that he who has been a legislator without anomaly for around a dozen years will bring his cleanliness to the presidency, and will not stain it, all the better to honor the values for which his parents stood.

Further, it will never be the role of a candidate to make a voter think objectively, whereas it is always a voter's responsibility to discern, listening to all the candidates, who is best suited for the heavily contested office. In my case, so far I have done some research on two candidates, Noynoy being the second. According to the "Legislative Information System" of the official website of the Philippine Senate, Noynoy, in less than three years as senator, has authored 11, co-authored 9, sponsored 6, and co-sponsored 5 pieces of legislation.

In any case, what I found out in the legislative information system is that Noynoy as a senator was author/co-author and sponsor/co-sponsor of measures like the HEIGHTENED JUDICIARY INDEPENDENCE ACT, REVISED FIRE CODE OF THE PHILIPPINES, CLIMATE CHANGE ACT, WORKERS' PRODUCTIVITY ACT, and the HUMAN RIGHTS RESOURCE CENTER ACT, among others. I was quite suspicious about the notion that Sen. Aquino III has not done anything as a legislator. The results of my little research tells me that such a notion may well be black propaganda from those who do not wish a person of integrity to be our highest of leaders. Smiley

moreover, it really depends on the voter after all, it's them who'll decide based on who they think best fits such an honorable (though corrupted by many) office...maybe, what i just wanted to show here is that before that big day (may 10, 2010), every citizenry and every mahayagnon must be armed not just by baseless favoritism and fanaticism but more so, of a facts-based and conscious will to vote that deserving presidential candidate...

honestly, i still dont have a fixed candidate to vote on...im still weighing my options...i hope everybody does too...election is our one and only chance to create the best possible government this country could ever have..let's not waste this opportunity..let's think on this issue critically Wink

god speed, fellow mahayagnons...hope we'll have more of this mind boggling posts... Grin
