I believed you saw only the main tailing pond (Mine waste) located between upper and lower barangays Guripan. During the life of the mines between 1962 to 1974, mineral resources were extracted more or less 5 km. away from these barangays or the exact location is u can find it when u stand at the back of Guripan Elementary school and look over the mountain road cuts that snaked into Mt Guripan.

Another source of this precious metal that milled and processed in Guripan Mill Plant where from Sitio Lusbin, (Lost Vein), Brgy Lipawan which is part of Dumingag. (Lost Vein is the continuity of vein system emanating from guripan then in Lipawan in the other end. Only technical persons with Geological background would exactly understood this word)..

Mining is perceived by anti-mining group as destructive and environment unfriendly...but it hard to imagine our self without the mining industry

Thanks. I don't understand 100%. And you are correct! Without mining industry, how could we have the comforts in life? But when I look into copper wires, I can imagine how many lives were sacrificed, how big the tract of land wasted and turned into desert... like what I saw in Guripan.

For the question, am I in favor? Well, I will only answer it when I am informed well. As of now, I only know a little.
