Let us reconize unsung heroes in Mahayag/Salug Valley!

The RAFI Triennial Awards recognizes individuals and institutions who have committed themselves to build a more humane, equitable and caring society. It honors those who become instrument in changing the lives of the less-privileged, reflect the philanthropic, humanitarian and holistic ideals and values of the RAFI founders, Don Ramon Aboitiz and his son Don Eduardo Aboitiz.

Anyone can nominate individuals or institutions by filling out and submitting a short nomination form at all 2GO offices in the Visayas and Mindanao.

Nomination form can also be downloaded from the RAFI website (http://www.rafi.org.ph/triennials/). The deadline of nomination is on July 16, 2010.

You mean sa nabuhat sa mga awardees? Or nabuhat sa RAFI? I believe you mean the former:

Among the Triennial Awards laureate is the Cebu CFI Community Cooperative, a billionaire cooperative based in Cebu City. Ret. Judge Esperanza Garcia told how the they started the coop in 1970 with only 200 pesos until its asset reached to 2.2 billion pesos making Cebu CFI Community Cooperative one of the biggest cooperative in the country. The cooperative had already helped and changed the lives of thousands of individuals and families.

Mao na gist sa usa sa mga nakadawat ug award. Naa ko press kit containing profile sa uban nga awardee, its in CD and naa sa balay so I can't post here this time. Basta ang atong i-nominate mao tong tawo or grupo nga naay nabuhat nga nindot sa community. Nakapa-change or naka-touch sa lives of other people. Like kanang coop, teacher ba ron, etc., etc. Basta gikan lang sa visayas ug mindanao.

You can also find the nomination forms in this site and other information needed about the awards, awardees and RAFI. Roberto Aboitiz, during the presscon, emphasized that RAFI needs as many indviduals and institutions as we can nominate. It is the work of the foundation to filter them. That way also, the award will be given to those who deserve it. I hope there are nominees from Mahayag and Salug Valley. I know there are many unsung heroes there.

I have nominated two institutions from Cebu. Wala koy idea kinsa manominate from Mahayag or from Salug Valley.

I'd like to nominate our very own Mayor Paulino "Ingko" Fanilag!

Tanang mga dagkung kausaban sa lungsod nahitabo sa iyang termino.  Sa communication, education and recreation...not to mention our beautiful, proud, erect and intent new Mahayag Town Hall.

WE now have our very own FM station! Did we ever stop and think about it, kaniadtong mabalaw pag pangita og FM signal ang mga tawo kay layo kaayo ta sa kabihasnan?  Usa ko sa mga tawo nga magbuhat buhat og antenna sa FM sauna kay aron makapaminaw lag music.  I guess, we should be proud of our very own DXUM, shouldn't we?  Internet?  Naulahi tag gamay sa mga kasikbit nga mga lungsod but here we are...getting connected... people :-)

Education. I believe it would be befitting to honor our Honorable Mayor.  He sees the importance of education.  Edukasyon, usa ka butang nga pinaka-importante sa tawo.  Without it, haskang lisura kaha.  kay matod pa:  "Ignorance is the root cause of suffering".  I haven't personally met his father Franklin Fanilag pero katong galingan sa tuburan nga turbina sa tubig ang nagpadangan was truly awe-inspiring.  KInsa man sa mga igsoon ni Ingko ang wa kahuman og eskwela?  His family believes in education and he shares that to the children of Mahayag.  When you have the time, pag-atang sa karsada inig panggawas sa mga estudyante, try to count unsa kabaga ang nangeskwela karon.  It's not like that before sa termino ni Ingko.

Sports and recreation.  Halos tanan natong baranggay dunay recreation facilities.  Og aktibo ang mga kabatan-onan  labinag hinangat ang fiesta sa baranggay.  Ang kabatan-onan is generally energetic, so daku kaayo og gikatabang nga aktibo ang atong liderato sa sports aron gawas nga himsog ang atong kabatan-onan, magamit nila ang ilang excess enegry sa maayo nga pamaagi.  Instead of using it to do harm to themselves and to the society.

New Mahayag Town Hall.   Daku kaayo ang pagka-sorpresa nako sauna didto sa Manila when a friend of mine who's a bank executive told me that "pinaka nindot ang munisipyo sa Mahayag" nga iya nakit-an sa tibook Zamboanga peninsula. He could have exaggerated but when I saw our new Municipal hall, dako nakong kalipay :-)   

Naa koy nadunggan nga bad things about our Honorable Mayor, matinood man o dili, I prefer to be grateful sa iyang mga nahimo nga kaayohan sa atong lungsod.   Can you think of any Mayor sa Mahayag nga mas daghan og nabuhat sa lungsod kaysa kang Ingko?  Ika-walo cya nga Mayor sa Mahayag, kinsa may mas nindot pag record niya? 

Politics aside, this man deserves to be honored.  What do you think?
