Pamaskong Handog
Date: December 29, Tuesday
Target Beneficiaries: the lumads of Pilas, Malubo

Assembly Area: Aparte Residence
Assembly Time: 6-7 am, pull out at 7am
Transpo: habal-habal, estimated fare is P20 (one way)

Please bring your own food provisions.

I was able to talk with the secretary of the Association of Barangay Captains and she informed me that Pilas is not a barangay, but part of Malubo. She gave the number of the barangay captain, will update you if Zabrina was able to call him.

We still welcome more donations: used clothings and food (noodles, canned goods), and other stuff worth sharing. You can bring your donations to Aparte's residence. Those interested to volunteer in re-packing the goods, please send your cell numbers to Jundezk or me so we could include you in the text brigade.

For identification purpose, we shall have a t-shirt that bears the name of our network.  You may bring your plain white t-shirt to Mr. Bobot Ramas (of PIT) who will take care of the printing. He is very supportive of our group and its activity. Kudos to him!

If time allows, we shall have an acquaintance/pre-new year party after the pamaskong handog activity.

PAMASKONG HANDOG

The meeting started at 10:15 in the morning, Maldita on the chair, Zabrina designated as secretary/documenter.

The members introduced each other before the matters on the agenda were taken up. The Ramas couple informed the body that they would sign up with mahayag.net that day.

It was finalized that the target beneficiaries of the Pamaskong Handog of the mahayag.net would be the Subanens of Pilas in Malubo.  The following details of the gift-giving program were as follows:

Date:  Tuesday, December 29, 2009
Assembly time, area:  6-7 in the morning, Aparte’s residence, pull out time, 7am
Means of transportation: Hired motorcycle (Habal-habal)

Collection and packing would be done at Aparte’s residence, being the center drop off point. Donations such as old clothings and food stuff are still welcomed until Monday, December 28.  Re-packing of goods will be on December 28 at the same venue.  Volunteers shall be informed by text brigade.

Jundezk and Mr. Ramas would take care of the radio announcement to be aired in the local radio station pertaining to the group’s activity. Maldita would prepare the text for the announcement.  Additionally, Jundezk and Mr. Ramas were assigned to go to the office of the Association of the Barangay Captains to gather data of the target area such as number of households and population.

So far, the following have pitched in their donations:

1.   Geisha – slippers, vitamins
2.   Zabrina – toiletries, canned goods, and old clothing
3.   Flanx – toiletries
4.   Tipay – one box of noodles
5.   Maldita – household supply

Jundezk would take care of the solicitation letters for more donations from generous sponsors. Maldita would also take care of the program of activities. Jivjoy2000, Sweetylanz, and Mahayagnon would take care of the children’s games.

GROUP CONCERNS
It was noted that there was less participation in the forums.  The following factors were noted:
1.   Not everyone has an internet connection at home.
2.   Members are busy offline.
3.   Not all members are internet savvy.
4.   Not everyone did not verify his membership via email. It was noted that over 700 have registered but only a little over 100 are full-pledged members, meaning they verified their membership from their email addies. Jundezk will try to get in touch with the group administration if verification of membership would just be removed for convenience. The chat box should also be improved.

To encourage more members into the group, the following strategies will be taken up:
1.   School campaign – There will be school to school campaigns to be conducted at a later date. Mr. Ramas pledged that mahayag.net shall be included in his school’s orientation program.  Jundezk will be invited to talk about the website.
2.   Printing of tarpaulin streamer – Logo will still be conceptualized.
3.   Radio announcements in the local station

There was a move to improve the group page color for a more appealing look. The color shall also be echoed to the color of the group’s t-shirts. Meantime, white t-shirts shall be printed bearing the group’s name.  It was agreed that members participating in the Pamaskong Handog shall wear a white t-shirt. Mr. Ramas will take of the printing. Interested members are asked to bring plain white t-shirts to Mr. Ramas in PIT.

Mahayag.net streamers will also be displayed during the alumni homecoming of the Sta. Maria Goretti College and Mahayag School of Arts and Trade (formerly Mahayag National High School). Jundezk was tasked to handle the preparation of the streamers. If there is time after December 28, a pre-new year and acquaintance party may be held.

There being no other matters to take up, the meeting adjourned at 11:35 in the morning.
